Joseph Pierce (Joe)
Film Producer & Writer
Joe is a Scottish-born film producer. His experience spans documentary filmmaking, international sports television and dramatic feature development. He is the Executive Producer of MATTHEWS, the documentary exploring the life and legacy of Sir Stanley Matthews.
He is currently developing Stan’s Men, a dramatic feature inspired by Matthews’s work with young Black footballers in apartheid South Africa. Building on the relationships and stories explored during the documentary’s production, the project focuses on friendship, political pressure and the difficult choices behind an extraordinary international football journey.
Joe began his production career in 1989 as Executive Producer and Partner at Sports Alliance International (SAI). The company held North American rights to major European football competitions, including the English League, Champions League, FA Cup and Scottish league and cup football. SAI also produced International Soccer Weekly, a 30-minute programme bringing European football to American audiences through Prime Network.
He also served on the board of the 1994 New York/New Haven World Cup Bid Committee.
His current focus is on developing character-driven films that explore the human stories behind sporting history.

Ryan Scott Warren

Ryan is a veteran filmmaker and entertainment industry executive with nearly twenty years of experience in Hollywood writing, developing and producing film, television and theater. Ryan spent much of his career working for Paramount Pictures-based production companies working with Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner on the MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE franchise as well as the hit Showtime series, DEXTER and nearly five years in representation at Creative Artists Agency. Ryan is now a partner in the Los Angeles based film, commercial and virtual reality company, Imagination Factory.
Stanley Matthews, JR
Executive Producer
Stanley is the son of legendary English soccer player, Sir Stanley Matthews. Stanley Matthews Jr. became an accomplished athlete in his own right, winning three junior Wimbledon titles, earning him the title of Number One Junior Player in The World in 1962. His career achievements include Grand Slam events, the Davis Cup, and a win at the French Open against the original “bad boy” of tennis, Ilie Nastase. After retiring from the professional tennis tour, Stanley moved to the United States and coached many of the world’s top juniors, including a young John McEnroe.

A dramatic feature in development
In 1970s apartheid South Africa, Sir Stanley Matthews sets out to take a group of young Black footballers from Soweto to Brazil. What begins as an opportunity becomes a struggle against political obstruction, surveillance and threats to the players and their families. Unfolding in private homes, government offices and behind closed doors, Stan’s Men is not a conventional football film, but a drama about courage, conscience and a community’s determination to be seen.
